Welcome to my Fundraising Page!  As a new Board Member to the Ronald McDonald House Charities of Greater Washington D.C. (RMHCDC), I am very excited to participate in my very first Red Shoe Run.  What drew me to this organization is the simplicity of their mission: to ease the hardship of children's illness on a family.   In the DC area, this mission is accomplished in 3 ways:  1) With 2 Ronald McDonald Houses on the campuses of Children's Hospital in DC and Inova Fairfax Hospital in Fairfax; 2) With 2 Ronald McDonald Living Rooms within the Children's Hospital in DC And Inova Fairfax Hospital in Fairfax;  and 3) With Ronald McDonald Mobile, an initiative that provides mobile health, dental, and wellness care to children in need-based communities in Washington, DC.   

Last year, RMHCD supported 5,803 children in their 3 core programs listed above.  In the 2 Ronald McDonald houses in our area, 575 families were supported in the house's 33 rooms.  While these statistics are impressive, there is room for growth and expansion to support more families in the future which is exactly what this race is all about.
