Team Elms was created in 2012 by the employees of The Elms Apartment Communities & Legend Management Group, along with their amazing sponsors*, residents and friends in memory of Rachel Katherine D'Andrea.

In June 2009, Rachel was diagnosed with Neuroblastoma Stage 4 disseminated high risk cancer. Rachel and her family spent a great deal of time at The Ronald McDonald House in Fairfax as well as the Ronald McDonald House in NYC while Rachel fought this very rare and difficult form of cancer. Both houses helped to make this difficult time a little easier on Rachel and her family: Rebecca (Mom), Jon (Dad), RJ (Big Brother) & Kaitlyn (Big Sister). Sadly, in January 2011 after a 2 year battle with this disease, we lost Rachel at age 3.

To honor Rachel's memory, the members of Team Elms volunteer at The Ronald McDonald House in Fairfax, sponsor food & toy drives throughout the year and participate/ fundraise for the Annual Red Shoe 5k Run/Walk. In 2013, Team Elms raised $2,950 and received the award for "Most Funds Raised by a Team" as well as the "Largest Team" award! Please, help us to exceed this amount in 2014!

Our goal is to raise $3,500 this year & we need your help! Whether it's $10, $20, $100 or more, every little bit counts and every little bit makes a difference to a family of The Ronald McDonald House!  Thank you for your support!

8th Annual Red Shoe 5k Run and Walk
